The School of Education has been rated number 1 in Scotland for the quality of its research in education by the Times Higher Education table of excellence, the Research Fortnight quality ratings and the Guardian. With 15% of its research described as world-leading, and a further 75% of international significance, the School of Education is clearly recognised as a leader in educational research.

We are a research-led centre for excellence in Education, recognised for innovation in teaching and academic development. We engage in teacher education, language teaching, the continuing professional development of education practitioners, the training of new researchers and research and consultancy services. We serve the Scottish education community through our provision of quality initial and in-service teacher education and continuing professional development programmes for primary, secondary and tertiary teaching.
