Adult Learning and Teaching (ALT), has subsumed the functions, programmes and activities of DAICE and the Lifelong Learning section in the School of Education.

Within the School of Education, Adult Learning and Teaching (ALT) retains many of the diverse and varied responsibilities DAICE performed across the University. The section has special responsibilities for:

Supporting student learning,

Educational development,

Part-time and flexible learning,

Delivery of short courses and other academic units,

Widening access to study,

Initiating and consolidating links with further education colleges, schools and the local community,
